Shavasana (Corpse Pose)
Shavasana is an asana and the name comes from the Sanskrit word Shava means Corpse and Asana means Posture. The Shavasana provides many benefits including relaxing the body, reducing headaches, & fatigue, helping to lower blood pressure. This pose is done by lying on the floor and spreading legs and arms about 45 degrees. The eyes should be closed and take deep breath. The whole body is relaxed onto the floor with an awareness of the chest and abdomen rising and falling with each breath. This posture should be practiced for twenty to thirty minutes.
